MEDICA provides insights on and opens doors to German healthcare market
Market experts from Germany Trade & Invest and the export initiative for the German healthcare industry, HEALTH MADE IN GERMANY, are ready for MEDICA. They will be at the world’s leading medical trade fair to, among other things, inform guests from abroad about the latest in Germany’s healthcare industry. MEDICA is being held from November 18 to November 21 in Düsseldorf. Organizers say they expect more than 6,000 exhibitors and thousands of visitors from more than 170 countries to attend the event.
The export initiative for the German healthcare industry, HEALTH MADE IN GERMANY, and Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) will have a state-of-the-art multi-media, interactive booth at MEDICA. The program will feature comprehensive presentations and panel discussions on a broad range of topics. Booth L30 in Hall 15 is the place to go to meet industry experts and establish connections with German companies.
Germany is a European and global medical technology leader and enjoys a top-level reputation for its innovative power, quality, after-sales training, and service. The sector is a major economic contributor to the country’s healthcare industry as well. One characteristic that makes German medtech unique is the prevalence in the sector of often family-owned small and medium-sized companies (SMEs). Their size allows them to respond quickly and efficiently as innovation changes technological demands. At the same time, German medtech employs more people – nearly 138,000 in 2017 –than any other European country. In the same year, German medtech products generated almost EUR 30 billion in total sales, with exports bringing in more than half of the turnovers.
At MEDICA, HEALTH MADE IN GERMANY will be distributing its medical technology industry profile, which is designed to introduce interested individuals and businesses from abroad to Germany’s medtech sector. While the guide is a good place to learn basics about Germany’s medtech industry and market, there is so much more to find out from HEALTH MADE IN GERMANY and GTAI at MEDICA.
GTAI is holding a series of presentations and panel discussions in English about how Europe’s number one healthcare market, Germany, works. On MEDICA’s first day they start with the healthcare market in general and continue to address how to access the medical device, digital health, and in vitro diagnostics and analytics markets. Specialists are scheduled to speak about German government funding programs for innovation and research and development as well. What is more, the HEALTH MADE IN GERMANY’s tour for diplomats, which has become somewhat of a MEDICA tradition, will be one major feature of the trade show offering.
